Day school applications: a hands-on workshop

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The Federal Indian Day School Class Action is an ongoing class action between Indian Day School Survivors and the Government of Canada.  A Federal Court Order has appointed Deloitte to process claims for Day Schools Claimants.
As advocates some of the client you serve will want to apply for the Federal Indian Day School Class Action Settlement, (FIDSCAS).  This workshop will help you prepare for assisting your clients.  We will give you a brief history of Indian Day Schools in Canada, talk about interviewing clients, creating a narrative, and determining a "Level of Harm", as the application form requires the client to pick a Level of Harm from Level 1 to Level 5.  We will give you an example from each Level of Harm to help you determine, for your own client interactions, how to place the clients experience within the continuum of Harm experienced.

Handouts will be available.
